The Essential Erasmus Packing List
Published by Lucy Walker | 5 years ago
Packing for Erasmus is easy when you know what to put in your luggage, but right now you're probably finding it difficult because you're just too excited.
Think about it, your semester abroad is nearly here and filling your suitcase is probably the last thing on your mind, right?
Thought so!
To help you get organised through your excitement we've put together a short and really useful packing list with exactly what to pack for an Erasmus exchange. This way you can be sure you won't forget anything, not even your underwear.
Once you have the list on your screen, all that’s left to do is pack, and get there. What could possibly go wrong? Well, nothing if you follow our handy packing guide. Here's a sneak peak...
Documents
This includes the obvious when you're studying abroad, such as your passport. You'll not only need this at border control, but also to pass your Right to Rent check in the UK, so just don’t forget these documents, please!
Electricals
Forgetting one of these could be a real "kicking yourself" situation. Especially if it happens to be just the charger that you forget. You might as well use your iPhone to crush garlic if you haven’t got its charger. Sure, you can buy another one, but just pack it and save yourself some of your budget.
Academic
Don’t forget what you’re really going to be there for. So you’d better make it look like it and pack some pencils, for your mother’s sake. You can buy everything you need there, but isn't new stationary the best way to get excited?
Bedroom & Bathroom
If you're taking any medication, don't assume you'll find it in your Erasmus city. You don't want to end up miming and describing your medical problems to a confused pharmacist who probably has a very different word for it in their language. And that's not to mention your sexual health. (Well, things just got a little awkward didn’t they?) Whether or not you plan on finding the love of your life on Erasmus, don't forget condoms: the only thing you want to go home with is memories (and good ones).
Clothing
Make sure you check what the weather’s like where you’re going. If you’re coming to the UK then you’re in luck because it’s all we like talk about. So if you like to walk or swim, make sure you pack the right shoes or swimwear so you don't miss out on a mountain hike or a trip to the beach! (OK, maybe not a swim in the UK)
Social & Cultural
Don’t forget to pack things to interest and excite your new-found friends. Maybe your favourite film... Some souvenirs... Some food from your country? Sharing is caring!
